The European Union Delegation's new Brasília headquarters, emphasizes EU values in design, fostering staff well-being, and integrating cultural elements of both Europe and Brazil.
ATRIA assumed the role of infrastructure coordination services and acted as consultants for various activities associated with the establishment of the new headquarters of the European Union Delegation in Brasília. These responsibilities encompassed budgetary planning, activity programming, the preparation of tender documents for bidding purposes, and overall construction management.
The selected building for the EU Delegation's new headquarters had recently completed its core and shell construction. Positioned in a uniquely advantageous location near the lake, it offers exceptional views of the city. The internal layout strategically positions office spaces to capitalize on the scenic views of the lake, ensuring a pleasant working environment for all staff members. The adoption of "new ways of working" is evident in the internal office spaces, characterized by open layouts, minimally glazed private rooms, ergonomic furniture, and internal greenery.
The overarching objective of the design is to exemplify European Union values while prioritizing the well-being and equality of the entire staff. The fit-out works advocate for multiple open-area office spaces featuring clear colors and ergonomic furniture, aligning with the global implementation of new working methodologies.
The interior design, crafted by the European External Action Service, aligns with institutional colors from the flag—blue and gold—while also incorporating elements representative of the host country, Brazil. This thematic integration extends to the graphic design throughout the building. Copernicus satellite images depicting various parts of the country adorn meeting rooms, and the main lobby proudly showcases gifts from member countries, symbolizing the diverse cultures within the delegation.
